Target
Industries
The
objective of the City's Economic Development Strategy is to align the
City's most productive services and activities towards target industry
groups and geographic districts.
The
2003 Strategy focused economic development activities on ten industry
clusters. These industry clusters were targeted because of their historical
strength in Oakland or because of their significant potential for growth
as emerging industry groups. The Strategy also called for on-going industry
analyses to provide continued support for planning, marketing, and development
activities.
The
list of Target Industry Sectors has primary economic drivers (high value
added outputs with high economic multipliers), secondary, and lesser
but also important economic activity.
